CRANNOG? in LOUGH ROSS in Drumgose

CRANNOG? in LOUGH ROSS

What is recorded here

Crannog is a man-made island, often built with brushwood, soil and stone, where people lived beside water rather than on dry land. In Lough Ross the old lake basin still holds that idea: a small rise above danger, with reeds, rain and distance doing the work of a wall. The name CRANNOG? preserves the shape of the place even when the field has changed around it.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CRANNOG? in LOUGH ROSS. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
