What is recorded here

Crannog in Lisnagonnell, County Down: a man-made island, probably medieval or earlier, where a house stood surrounded by water. The official record preserves the name and kind but little else, leaving the chamber dark and the room waiting. Perhaps a family lived there, children running across wooden decks while mist closed the horizon. The water kept the shape of their days long after the timber rotted.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CRANNOG. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
