Crannog is an artificial island platform built in ancient times, often for housing or ritual use. Lannagh OR Castlebar Lough holds one beneath its water in County Mayo. The lake keeps the wooden stakes and soil layers that human hands arranged centuries ago. What lives on the surface forgets; the water remembers the shape of the room, the hearth and the people who stood there.
