CRANNOG in Killytaggart

CRANNOG

What is recorded here

Crannog is a man-made island in County Fermanagh, built when people wanted dry ground surrounded by water. The official record preserves the name and place, while the living detail has faded from the description. That absence makes the crannog larger in the imagination: a small island, a household, a border between land and lake.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CRANNOG. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
