What is recorded here
Crannog is an artificial island, often built with timber and soil, where people lived above water. That much is clear. The rest belongs to imagination: a family kitchen, a child running past reeds, a boat pulled ashore in rain. Gortgonnell and Killyhevlin give the idea a shape, but they do not confirm every detail.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CRANNOG. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.; MEDIEVAL. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
