CRANNOG in Dooross

CRANNOG

What is recorded here

Crannog in Dooross, County Fermanagh, is an artificial island built for human life before modern records. Water would have touched its edges at once, forcing every entrance, fire and tool into a small visible circle. People may have stood at its edge watching rain move across the bay, knowing the land itself had been made rather than found.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CRANNOG. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
