Crannog: Dumb Lough is an artificial island in County Down, built by humans throwing stone and soil into deep water until dry land appeared. The official record leaves the exact date empty, yet the shape remains clear: a small round world raised from the lough, perhaps for a house, a shrine or a family kept separate from the ordinary shore. Dumb Lough gives the place a quiet name, as if the water stopped speaking when the island entered it.
