What is recorded here
Gateway, extant 1894, on a symmetrical plan comprising pair of tuck pointed drag edged dragged limestone ashlar diagonal piers on chamfered plinths having "Cyma Recta"- or "Cyma Reversa"-detailed cornices below capping supporting wrought iron double gates with drag edged dragged limestone ashlar diagonal outer piers having "Cyma Recta"- or "Cyma Reversa"-detailed cornices below capping supporting wrought iron gates. Now disused. Street fronted on a corner site at entrance to grounds of Cranmore House.
A gateway not only making a pleasing visual statement in the streetscape at a secondary entrance on to the Cranmore House estate, but also recalling a contemporary gateway at nearby Ballinrobe Catholic Chapel (see 31215001).
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
