Craiglockhart, Castle Greg and Castledykes may mark a Roman road, though the connection remains possible rather than proven. If true, the line crossed West Lothian during the Roman period and carried soldiers, merchants or orders through terrain that still resists easy reading. The names preserve more than a boundary; they preserve a route someone walked, hurried along or forgot.
