Craigcrook Castle is a 17th-century masonry castle in the City of Edinburgh that gave its name to the Craigcrook district. It belonged to a charitable trust after John Strachan died in 1719, then hosted Francis Jeffrey, Lord Jeffrey, whose literary gatherings drew Sir Walter Scott and Henry Cockburn, Lord Cockburn. The castle still stands as a category B listed building, carrying layers of merchant ownership, legal life and salon culture within the west end of Edinburgh.
