Craig-y-Nos Castle, meaning Rock of the Night, rose beside the River Tawe after Adelina Patti bought it in 1878. She transformed the house into a private estate complete with a miniature opera house where gilded composer names still hang between Corinthian columns. Patti sang across Europe and the United States, yet she always returned to this valley to live with her husbands and watch the seasons change. The castle remains a hotel today, but it still carries her voice in its rooms and gardens.
