What is recorded here

Cow Castle is an Iron Age hill fort in the River Barle valley, reached by a two-mile walk from Simonsbath. Its purpose remains uncertain, possibly serving as a defensive position or a overnight cattle haven. The name itself suggests animals before people, as if the castle belonged to cows and humans only later claimed it.
