Why this matters
Coverack Cove in Cornwall consists primarily of hard, resistant granite rock, formed during the late Carboniferous to early Permian periods, around 290–310 million years ago. The cove is notable for its dramatic sea cliffs and the contrast between the rugged granite and the surrounding softer sedimentary rocks, which have been eroded more easily by the sea.
