COURT TOMB in Annacloghmullin

COURT TOMB

What is recorded here

Annacloghmullin still holds a Neolithic court tomb where people built with stones large enough to exclude casual travel. The chamber waited for bodies, gifts and memory long before written history arrived to name the dead. Its geometry remains clear enough to suggest pride, care and certainty about the future.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as COURT TOMB. Recorded period: PREHISTORIC; NEOLITHIC. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
Court tomb, Neolithic period. These tombs are significant as early ritual and burial structures, reflecting communal funerary practices in prehistoric Ireland.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
