What is recorded here
Mortars and balls flew over Tullyard fort during the wars, yet the counterscarp rath still stands scheduled in County Armagh. Men dug or bled around that ridge while others watched from a distance, certain stone would absorb what flesh cannot. The fort never named its killers or praised its survivors. It only waited for the noise to stop, then kept the shape of the danger that made it.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as COUNTERSCARP RATH: TULLYARD FORT. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
