COUNTERSCARP RATH in Ballyruther

COUNTERSCARP RATH

What is recorded here

Mnemo and Eochu ruled Ballyruther when the counterfort rose. They lived inside the angular room and watched the land through gaps cut into the stone. Eochu could enter other worlds through the angles. Mnemo could not leave the room because her shadow had become the shape of the building. They turned the chamber into a game and invited every living person to play it.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as COUNTERSCARP RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
