COUNTERSCARP RATH: DRUMBALLY FORT in Coolsaragh

COUNTERSCARP RATH: DRUMBALLY FORT

What is recorded here

Counterfort and stone still mark Drumbally Fort in Coolsaragh, a scheduled place where human hands shaped the land long before modern borders drew their lines. The name itself preserves the shape: a counterfort, a rath, a fort, all layered like sediment in red earth. Whatever lived there has vanished, but the boundary remains, waiting for someone to walk it and remember that forgetting is not the same as losing.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as COUNTERSCARP RATH: DRUMBALLY FORT. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
