COUNTERSCARP? PLATFORM RATH in Lisnataylor

COUNTERSCARP? PLATFORM RATH

What is recorded here

Mortars and muscles built a round platform above the Antrim hills, perhaps watching seas or simply defending bread. The uncertainty in its name preserves the danger: a chamber, a cache, a childhood memory or a military mistake. Every one of those possibilities still presses against the grass.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as COUNTERSCARP? PLATFORM RATH. Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
