Why this matters
The Battle of Corrichie was fought in 1590 between the forces of Alexander, 1st Lord Gordon, and the Marquess of Huntly, leading to Gordon's victory and his emergence as a dominant figure in north-eastern Scotland. The battle marked a shift in regional power and secured Gordon's influence over the area.
