Corby Castle is a Grade I registered park or garden in Cumberland where generations of Howard women lived, birthed and died. Maria Archer died in childbirth there in 1789, prompting Nollekens to carve his monument Faith for Wetheral Church, while Elizabeth Howard died at the castle in 1591. The house repeated itself across centuries: young mothers, new infants, old men departing. It is not a display of grandeur but a chamber of continuity, where love and loss returned like seasons.
