Hill of the dog, or hill of the meeting
Conival is a prominent hill in the Southern Uplands of Scotland, reaching an elevation of approximately 761 metres. Its name, derived from the Gaelic "Cù-inbheall," meaning "Hill of the Dog," may relate to ancient territorial boundaries or local legend. The hill is part of the Cheviot Hills range and is significant for its geological composition of Silurian greywacke and its role in the landscape of the Border region.
