This black commemorative plaque records: The Danish Seamen's Club. From 1940 to 1945 Newcastle was the official home town to 3,000 Danish sailors serving in the British Merchant Navy. St. Nicolas Buildings housed their unions, clubs and the Danish Merchant Navy Reserve Pool Recorded plaque organisation: City of Newcastle upon Tyne.
