This plaque was unveiled on 29th January 2000 by The Right Worshipful The Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Tony Burns To mark the 70th Anniversary of Barton Aerodrome, Manchesters first Municipal Airport Opened 1 January 1930
Barton Aerodrome served as Manchester's first municipal airport and was home to the Lancashire Aero Club, playing a significant role in the development of aviation in the region from its opening on 1 January 1930.
