This commemorative plaque records: Read's Baths (1806). The site of the town's fifth well originally owned and operated by Reverend Bead, the Baptist minister in Warwick. Later Lee's Baths (1882) and Royal Leamington Spa Turkish Baths (1861). A drinking fountain remained on the site for many years. Recorded plaque organisation: Leamington Old Town.
Read's Baths, originally owned by Reverend Bead in 1806, was one of several bathhouses that contributed to Leamington Spa’s reputation as a health resort, reflecting the town’s historical significance in the development of spa culture.
