This blue commemorative plaque records: Susan Peareth born 1952 died 1821. The will of Susan Peareth - Lady of Peareth Hall - funded High Unsworth School, which stood on this site from 1826 to 1969. To support the poor in the area, teaching them to read, write and become numerate so they could better themselves. Recorded plaque organisation: Washington Area Committee.
Susan Peareth, born in 1752 and died in 1821, is remembered for her philanthropic efforts that funded High Unsworth School, providing education to underprivileged children in her community.
