This green commemorative plaque records: Hopper Cycle Works From a small workshop, opposite, established by Fred Hopper in 1880, Elswick-Hopper Cycle Works became one of the largest manufacturers of bicycles in the U.K. This is the site of the former office and additional extensive works were in Marsh Lane.
