This green commemorative plaque records: Wheathampstead House Built in 1840 and home to Field Marshal the 10th Earl of Cavan (1865-1946). This impressive Grade II listed wall and gateway were added to screen the house from Wheathampstead Station opposite, shortly after the railway arrived.
