What is recorded here

Recorded plaque organisation: Howden Civic Society, Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
This site was historically significant as it housed two town-owned lodgings for the needy from 1665 to 1794, later becoming a comprehensive workhouse that included various facilities for labor and confinement until its closure in 1839.
