This red commemorative plaque records: RNAS & RAF East Fortune Fine example of a WW1 and WW2 airfield. In 1919 Airship R34 left here for the first ever return flight to the USA Recorded plaque organisation: National Transport Trust.
RNAS & RAF East Fortune served as a critical airfield during both World Wars and is notable for being the departure point of Airship R34 on its pioneering round-trip flight to the USA in 1919.
