This blue commemorative plaque records: Maltmans Villa Known as Maltmans Villa for many years, this house was built on the site of an older dwelling that was on the edge of Maltmans Gardens hamlet. In the early nineteenth century the rod yard was behind this house - where many women would peel willows or rods for the local successful basket weaving business.
