This blue commemorative plaque records: The Muntin Kirk and the Muntin Bridge Stranraer's first Reformed Presbyterian Church, built here around 1797, known locally as the Muntin Kirk, was a reminder of services held in the hills and mountains in Covenanting times. The bridge, which crossed the Town Burn here, is still hidden beneath today's roadway. Recorded plaque organisation: Stranraer and District Local History Trust.
The Muntin Kirk served as Stranraer's first Reformed Presbyterian Church built around 1797, symbolizing the area’s Covenanting heritage through its location and name. The Muntin Bridge, which once crossed the Town Burn at this site, has been buried beneath the current roadway but remains a historical landmark.
