Marianne and her brother built a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom, then climbed the rock to watch rain strike the sea. They lived beside the fort instead of digging through it, sharing the island with its older guns and forgotten rooms. The house still stands because love and pride can build on rock when certainty is missing.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Colonsay, Loch An Sgoltaire as Artillery Fortification (17th Century), Castle (medieval)(possible), Summerhouse (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
