Coach House at Castle Madoc stands in Powys, Wales, preserving a post-medieval purpose that is no longer obvious. It may have served as a stable, a kitchen or a waiting room for travellers, but the function has faded from memory. The building still exists, yet its original role has become a guess. What is clear is that it survived long enough to be recorded, and that much more of it has been lost.
