Cnoc a' Bhaid-rallaich rises to approximately 500–600 metres and is part of the rugged topography of the Scottish Highlands. Its name, meaning "Hill of the Bogle" in Gaelic, hints at local folklore associating the area with supernatural or eerie occurrences. Little specific geological or historical significance has been widely documented.
