What is recorded here
Cluny Castle, Mill Cottage stands beside the meal mill in Laggan, a small cottage built to support the grinding work rather than to dominate the landscape. It may have housed the miller or his family, giving the heavy stone wheels a human heartbeat in the Highland dark. The castle loomed above, but this cottage kept the everyday rhythm of meal, hunger and survival.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Cluny Castle, Mill Cottage as Cottage (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
