Cliff face west of Bran Point consists mainly of Jurassic limestone, approximately 150 to 190 million years old, formed from the accumulation of marine sediments in a shallow tropical sea. The area is notable for its well-exposed stratigraphy and fossil content, typical of the Dorset coast's geologically significant landscape.
