Clarkson Stanfield, Edward William Cooke, Thomas M. Richardson Jnr., Thomas C. L. Rowbotham, Myles Birket Foster, and Ernest Waterlow were prominent 19th-century British watercolor artists known for their landscape paintings; they frequently visited Bonchurch Shore, which inspired many of their works.
