Clackmannan, Castle Street, Ramsay Green Bowling Club

Bowling Green (19th Century), Pavilion (19th Century) - (20th Century)

What is recorded here

Ramsay Green in Clackmannan has rolled wooden balls across Castle Street since the nineteenth century, beside a pavilion that still stands after two centuries of rain and argument. Men and women may have stood on that grass after dark, marking lines in chalk or dirt, judging distance by instinct rather than rule. The green remains a small human measure of time, unchanged while towns and languages turn over it.
