What is recorded here

Identified during quarrying activity, close to the highest point of a hill composed of sand and gravel. The cist is completely intact (dims. c. 1.5m x 0.75m) and very firmly set in the ground (pers. comm. Mary Cahill, National Museum of Ireland, 9 March 2007). A Bronze Age cist tomb, likely dating to the early to middle first millennium BCE. Its intact condition and elevated hilltop location suggest it may have been part of a funerary or ritual landscape associated with early metalworking communities in the region.
