What is recorded here

No visible marker remains in Ballintaggart, yet the surveyors remembered enough to place a point on their maps. That absent cist belongs to the Bronze Age, when people cut stone chambers for the dead and trusted the earth to keep them. The land may have swallowed the chamber, but the act of remembering it is still a form of burial: locking what was lost inside the mind of the place.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CIST BURIAL (O.S. memoir site, unlocated). Recorded period: PREHISTORIC; BRONZE AGE. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
