Cioch Buttress

Cliff

What is recorded here

Cioch Buttress is shown as a cliff on the public map of Highland. The saved point is the map point or the centre of its mapped shape.
Cioch Buttress is a sea cliff composed primarily of Lewisian gneiss, some of the oldest rock formations in Scotland, dating back approximately 2.7 to 3 billion years. These highly metamorphosed rocks formed deep within the Earth's crust through intense heat and pressure, and were later exposed by erosion, creating a prominent and geologically significant coastal feature.
