Church (Site of)

Killalee Church vanished beneath its own graveyard, leaving only buried walls and the memory of a building that once stood at the centre of the buried town. The name changed from Kelilin to Kilelie de Donaghmore and later Kililleene, but the place kept its shape: a church, a grave field, and a gate near St. John's. What is missing is not a failure of record; it is the ordinary fate of small Irish churches, swallowed by time, reuse and forgetting.
