What is recorded here

Carrigogantelan marked a medieval church in Craigoganlet, County Down. The site has lost its building but keeps its name, pointing to a place where local people gathered for prayer, marriage or burial before the landscape changed. Whatever stood there, it was important enough to be remembered long after wood rotted or stone scattered.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CHURCH (site of): CARRIGOGANTELAN. Recorded period: MEDIEVAL. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
