CHURCH SITE (in modern graveyard) & MASS SITE: ST. COLMANELLUS OF ATHOLRILL, ST. COLMANELL'S or ACHOCHILL in Carmacmoin

Achочill in Carmacmoin was a living church and mass site from the middle ages through the eighteenth century, now buried beneath a modern graveyard. St. Colmanellus of Atholrill gave the place its name and purpose, drawing people across generations to pray beside what is now only grass and silence. The dead likely walked past the altar before the altar disappeared, their footsteps erased but their faith still pressed into the soil.
