What is recorded here

Balayncan stood in Ballykennedy during the medieval period, marking a Christian presence beside the ancient landscape. Its stones have vanished, but the name still points to a place where people gathered, prayed and shaped local life. The loss of its building does not erase the purpose it once served.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CHURCH SITE: CHURCH OF BALAYNCAN. Recorded period: MEDIEVAL. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
