Church in Tawnies Upper

In graveyard (CO135-019001-). Built in 1818 (Lewis 1837, vol. 1, 348) on site of earlier church (CO135-130---). Rectangular nave with chancel at E end. Embattled tower, with corner pinnacles, at W end. N and S transepts later additions. Vestry at NE corner. Corner buttresses on nave, chancel and tower. The Church in Tawnies Upper was built in 1818, replacing an earlier church on the same site; it features a rectangular nave with a chancel at the east end, an embattled tower with corner pinnacles at the west end, and north and south transepts, reflecting a Gothic Revival style.
