Church in ruins

On high ground overlooking Lough Carra to E. Ivy-clad remains of recatngular church (7.7m N-S; 15.6m E-W), built of roughly coursed ashlar blocks. N and S walls very low and featureless. E gable contains large Romanesque window. W gable contains doorway (H 1.8 m), splayed internally. The above description has been derived from D. A rectangular church, built of roughly coursed ashlar blocks, was constructed in the Romanesque style, likely during the 12th century. Its location on high ground overlooking Lough Carra suggests a strategic and possibly monastic or parish significance.
