According to Carrigan (1905, 335) the original parish church of Cooliagh was situated in the townland of ‘Kyle’, in the ‘churchyard field’, but had been uprooted and ‘subject to the plough’. The precise location of this church within the townlands of Kyle East and Kyle West is unknown.
