Church in Doonvullen Upper

The 17th century Down Survey map of Clanwilliam barony shows a church in 'Dunvullin' standing close to an area of bogland near the S parish boundary with Rathjordan (NLI, MS 718). The terrier of the Down Survey map of Ballybrood Parish stated that there stood 'a Church on the lands of Dounvullan' which belonged to the Bishop of Emly (ibid.). The precise location of Dunvullin Church in the Parish of Ballybrood has not been identified. A ringfort (LI023-050----) is located in roughly the same location as to where the church is indicated on the Down Survey map. The church was probably located in the vicinity of this monument.
