Skerry or Schirich church and graveyard in Magheramully preserve a holy footprint attributed to St Patrick, marking the site as a destination for devotion long before written history. The earth there may have trembled with prayer, burial and seasonal gathering, while the footprint gave the ordinary ground a divine edge. People may have touched the mark, argued about its truth or simply sat beside it in rain, certain that something unusual still lived under the soil.
